lots of THANKS …

Guuuuuuys, I had my last workshop yesterday. I can hardly believe that 6 workshops and almost 3 months have passed since my arrival in AZ. Yesterday’s workshop on Gratitude was very light and fun and silly, exactly what the last one needed to be (and what I needed it to be as well). It’s been a lot of work prepping the workshops having to build them from the ground up. I enjoyed doing so, and discovered that it got easier as they went on – easier to prepare for, more trusting of my abilities and much less nervous ;) I am very grateful to have been able to come to AZ and for making the choice to actually DO IT. So much thanks and love to the awesome people in my life who supported me, both near and far. It was nice to see some beautiful faces from the past as well as some new ones. It’s almost time for me to leave here (and right before it gets absurdly hot) … thank you Phoenix for welcoming me back with open arms and for helping this life journey go smoothly and, well, just as it should.

thanks. thanks. thanks.

the TRUTH comes out …

Mindful hike #5. Take 2. I’m glad to have postponed last weekend’s hike to yesterday as my own body needed rest (something I don’t do for myself often enough, if at all) and more beautiful ladies were able to make it this time – win win! As always, I was honored to guide them and to relate to them and to support them and to learn from them …

We shared stories, old and new. Stories of life and ones that we want to change. Shared what it feels like in our minds, hearts and bodies when we live in our truth, or when we don’t. Meditated on our ideal selves and our ideal lives; values, who we are, and what we want. It was deep. It was healing. It was powerful. It was truth.

So much thanks to these ladies for allowing me to guide them and for their love and support as I live my truth XOXO

One more Phoenix workshop left on Gratitude. Holy cow, where have the 3 months gone!?

(Dreamcatchers made by yours truly. I seriously love making them.)

this shit just got REAL …

You are all like, yes Dawn, we GET IT ALREADY, you’re a Health Coach. YES, I AM!!!! And look at this pretty certificate that says so. Once I received it, my friend Sara made it very clear to me that I better frame this! Probably because she knows I might not display my accomplishment as I should. I will do it this time though. I promise, Sara. This is BIG. [FYI, I haven’t done it yet though.]

Do you wanna know what a Health Coach does and what I want to do with this amazing new role in my life?!?! Yes, of course you do. As a Health Coach, I work with my clients on improving their lifestyles to live happy fulfilling amazing lives! And I do this by helping them to improve their diet bringing in healthier feel-good options to crowd out the unhealthy ones. Even more importantly, we dive deeper into what is called “Primary Food,” referring to relationships, career, spirituality and physical activity. So, yes, eating more greens will surely improve your health, and looking at your life as a whole will REALLY improve your health. This is a holistic approach. We need to feed our mind, body and soul to feel whole and to feel truly happy. So, if you’re ready to live the greatest life ever, please reach out to me! I am here to fully support you and to listen to you and to guide you along the path you were meant to be on in this world.

I would like to focus my coaching on women seeking ways to manage stress in their careers (which of course translates to every other area of life), and/or looking to transition to the career of their dreams. This is part of my story and how I came to be right here, so I am very excited to work with like-minded strong beautiful women. FYI, that’s all of you, you just may have lost touch with it for a little while. I’m here to help you un-block it! So let’s do this!!!

love + [first] light

XO dawn

Learn more about IIN!

relief. breath. BEER.

So this is what relief looks like to me. A tasty brew after completing my last test. I’m officially graduating on Wednesday as a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Heads up, there will be another post when it’s official ;)

Lots of FABULOUS stuff happening in my life these days. Yesterday, I taught my first essential oils class which was very fun and exciting and only slightly scary. Had an amazing support group of amazing women there with me. Did I mention they were amazing? Look forward to many more classes to share the healing benefits of essential oils (I don’t have any planned yet though, so stay tuned!). Today, I took my last test for school. I did, well, not so great. However, I PASSED!!! And that’s all I needed. Wednesday, graduation commences. It’s an online program, so the only walking will be around my house in a gown of leggings and a hoodie. And then most likely followed by another beer, or 3. Yay! Pretty bad ass week if I say so myself. So much more fabulousness to come. I can feel it. And it feels pretty fucking good.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been very focused, and a bit stressed, about the oils class and my last test. They are both done, and it’s time to celebrate! Hence the beer in the middle of the afternoon on a Monday. Party animal here.

Feel free to drink one for me too … I’ll feel your celebratory vibes. And I’ll send you mine. Spiritual partying! Yay!

follow your PASSION …

“If you don’t have a clear passion, and somebody blithely tells you to go follow your passion, I think you have the right to give that person the middle finger. Because that’s like somebody telling you that all you need in order to lose weight is to be thin, or all you need in order to have a great sex life is to be multiorgasmic: That doesn’t help!” -Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic

Well, being multiorgasmic COULD help, but I’m not here to write about that, soooo …

“Go follow your passion” is something so many of us have said or heard. I’ve said it to myself and had it said to me a whole bunch of times. I knew what my passion was in a general sense, but not enough to just quit what I was doing and go follow it. Now, as some of you know, I did actually quit what I was doing a little over a year ago. I just knew I couldn’t continue doing the passionLESS job and life I’d been doing, so I went in search of new adventures. At that point, my passion still had no legs to stand on. All I knew was that I wanted to do something in holistic wellness and something creative. Well, I suppose that’s something of a start, but there are literally thousands of things to do in either of those career genres.

I struggled for months to figure out what my passion looked like through researching jobs and different types of holistic wellness options and through drawing and hand-lettering. Nothing screamed PASSION to me until I discovered IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition) on the handy-dandy Facebook. This was the second time we’d crossed paths on FB. The first time I saw it, I was slightly intrigued, then kept swiping to capture photos of other people’s children and where someone I don’t remember from high school is now eating dinner with their friend I never knew. But, hey, that first time, I wasn’t in the right place to realize that IIN would lead me to half of my passion.

This second time struck something. Once again, there was intrigue, yet stronger this go around. In lieu of scrolling down FB any further, I went right to IIN‘s website; sent a request for more information; got a call shortly after from Pablo (I still remember his name, which has to mean something!) who described the program fully and eloquently, and I could feel my excitement growing at every word (maybe I am writing about being multiorgasmic); found out that my amazing Life Coach graduated from this program; and I signed up a week later. It felt right. I was being pulled to do it. I had finally found something solid that I was passionate about. And I was so fucking ready for it!

This happened almost a year ago. I started the program middle of January 2016, and I will be graduating in less than 2 months. Wow, Time, where have you gone?!? Throughout these past 10 months, it has become more and more apparent that health coaching is exactly where I should be. I am so excited to guide others on their own journey to health and happiness (I know, cliche, right?). My focus is working with women, in their 20s-40s, who are unhappy in their careers and struggling with managing all levels of stress, in order to help them find and live their truth and passion every day.

There’s that word passion again …

The word Elizabeth Gilbert prefers is curiosity. Try anything and everything you may be slightly or largely (and everything in between) curious about and see where it leads you. I have been curious about millions of things since entering this world and this curiosity has taken me on many adventures. Being curious about IIN led me to finding my passion. One passion at a time though, as I’m still working on the something creative part. I’ll let my creative curiosity run wild and see where that leads me ;) stay tuned …
