make a WISH …

The difference between a flower and a weed is judgement.” -unknown

Came across this fabulous quote on Instagram recently. Nature is beautiful in every shape and form and color … ok, in every single way.

If you can see beauty in this photo, you can see beauty in you. No judgement necessary.

let it GO …

I came across this fabulous saying a classmate posted on Facebook …

Let it hurt.

Let it bleed.

Let it heal.

And let it go.

And be the perfect beautiful blossom you were brought into this world to be! Hell yeah!!! (Disclaimer: This last line is all me and was not taken from FB ;)

WAKE UP and smell the …

Another journey to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx on quite possibly the most perfect day of the year (a.k.a. this past Thursday). My bright and shining friend, Nicole, was visiting NYC, so we kind of met in the middle. The sun was vibrant, the flowers were blooming and delectably fragrant, the conversation was wonderful.

Roses and peonies were the highlight of the garden (in my opinion). The rose garden was like a magical fairy tale place where people should only be allowed to dance or skip through (just an idea). Nicole and I wanted to lay in the roses … then realized that would be a terrible idea. But you must understand wanting to be enveloped by such beauty! Riiiight?

Speaking of which, flowers are a reminder of the beauty in this world, including the beauty within ourselves. Often times we forget to see that and focus on the bad way more often. On the day I visited the garden, I read a quote on a fellow blogger’s site (ijourneyinsidemyself): “imagine if we obsessed about the things we loved about ourselves.” Imagine how amazing the world would be if we actually lived our lives like this! We’d all be happy and love ourselves and love everyone around us – YAY! But, I get it … it seems like a very daunting task for most of us. Remember – we are all beautiful beings, so just think of one (or 20!) thing that you love about yourself. Come on, you got this …

I love how much I’ve evolved over the past couple of years. I love my ridiculous silly sarcastic sense of humor. I love my creative abilities. I love my eyeballs. See how easy that was ;)

effort AND ease …

doing nothing is very different than being still

Ponder THAT.

This was the theme of the yoga class I took last night and I definitely pondered THAT on my drive home last night. Where in life are we ‘doing’ and where are we ‘being’? Doing comes much easier to most of us, but oddly, doing doesn’t make life easier. So let’s pick one area of our lives and just try to ‘be’ in it today. Hmmmm, what will I choose??? … relationship, food, health, self-love, work? … ok, I’m thinking way too much about this. I should probably just let it be ;)

orchiDELIRIUM …

delirium. noun. 1. a more or less temporary disorder of the mental faculties, as in fevers, disturbances of consciousness, or intoxication, characterized by restlessness, excitement, delusions, hallucinations, etc. 2. a state of violent excitement or emotion.

Orchidelirium is the name of the orchid exhibit at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. From the definition above (c/o dictionary.com), I should have had a rather intense experience and possibly hurt people while I was there. That is not exactly what happened. My self-definition would be a temporary disorder (disorder? … that word sounds so negative!) of the mental faculties, through intoxication (sensory – sight, smell, touch … I totally ignored the “do not touch the plants” signs), characterized by excitement. Hmmm, I kinda like the dictionary.com definition better …

And here’s some other magical plantness we saw amongst the tropical rain forest of the Bronx. So much natural beauty and detail to observe and ponder …

. all creation comes from love .

school of FLOWERS …

This is a few months old, but I just had to share another creative experiment of mine – a flower arranging class at the Flower School NY. My amazing Arizona friends and I did some flower arranging back in the day, ya know, when we were young whippersnappers. A wonderfully giving florist downtown used to teach free classes once a month as part of Phoenix’s First Friday art walk. And the classes were led by the equally amazing Sarah Noffi (bad ass creative being – jewelry, furniture, metalwork, flowers (obviously), and who knows what else!).

So, I’ve always had a liking toward floral design and thought I’d give it another shot to see if it was something I wanted to dive deeper into. I did enjoy the class and the beautiful arrangement that resulted from it. However, that’s where it ended at this point in my life.  Instead, I signed up to save the world as a Health Coach! Figured it would make more sense to save the world with health and wellness than with flowers ;)

But, I sure do enjoy their scent and eye candy!

may my news INSPIRE you to bloom …

newspaper art 02

You can draw and create on anything … even the Catholic Times ;)

No one gets newspapers anymore, but this one shows up on my mom’s driveway every so often. In case you’re curious, I am not a crazy Catholic … if I was, I would probably feel guilty defacing their newspaper. But, hey, I did make it look pretty cool. Plus, the word ‘pornography’ takes it up another notch.

The moral of this story: Try looking at things around you from a different viewpoint. They don’t all have to have one purpose/meaning, unless you let them.
