Look at this beautiful deep burgundy green earthly creation. It came from my mom’s backyard and went right into my belly. Bitter, sweet, savory … just perfect. They were almost too pretty to eat, but I got over that.
One day, I’d like to work on my green thumb. These were planted by my dad and watered by my mom and the sky. I’m just the lucky one who got to eat the fruits (or, shall I say veggies) of their labor.
I was listening to a wonderful lecture yesterday for school by Christiane Northrup and she quoted her dad:
“Let the earth pass through you, and then you’ll be immune to everything.”
So eat dirt. Don’t wash veggies from your own garden. Fuck the 5 second rule, just eat it whenever. Eat food that looks like what it is supposed to look like. And eat every part of it. And your body, mind and spirit will love you for it.
